indignant

Sparrow on my chest sing in the morning

of this grace which I possess

reminding me not

to let it slip past my thoughts

And so I hold tight to a dream that guides me

and flies me above cityscapes

and dreamscapes

where nightmares disappear like thunderclouds rolling out to sea

where I once lay in hopes you would answer me

in a darkness that only the mind’s eye can fathom

but you left me and let me sink forty fathoms down

to wherein I was certain I might drown

if not for a certain iron eagle which captured me amidst the night

and within those wings I found shelter

until I remembered the daylight

whose flaxen hair unfurled the majesty of my might.
